02.17.18 We’re Moving – Wacky Wonderful Wednesday!

I have been writing 3 blogs for the last few years.  My dementia has progressed to the point where I can’t do that without a lot of frustration and even failure.  There are a bunch of people following this blog so I want you to know where the information will now be posted that would have been posted here on Wacky Wonderful Wednesdays.

Our personal blog is called Dora and the Explorers.  We live in a motor home and travel most of the year (until recently) Dora is our motor home, Boots is our truck that we tow behind Dora and we are the Explorers of all parts of the United States.  Just wanted to explain the blog name!  Our granddaughter Madisyn helped us name all this early on in our RV planning stage.  She was only 3 when we started this and Dora was her favorite television show.  She was not really sure about having Grannie and Paw Paw gone a lot of the time so letting her come up with this helped her comfort level greatly.  She loves to say that we get inside of Dora through her ear (door) and when Dora makes funny sounds she says Dora’s tummy is grumbling!

The web address for Dora and the Explorers is http://rosalynandroy.com

I will still be sharing the funny, silly, heartwarming things I find on my personal blog, not here.

Some of you now receive an email when I publish this Wacky Wonderful Wednesdays blog.  If you would like to get an email when I publish something (Wacky or otherwise) on our personal blog go to the blog at http://rosalynandroy.com and on the right hand side there is a place that says Follow Our Blog.  Enter your email and when you are sent an email, please confirm it.

The third blog I’ve been writing for a few years is Some Things I Learned About Demential .  It is where I’ve shared lessons I learned while my mom had Alzheimer’s and lived with us to the end of her life.  We made mistakes I wouldn’t want anyone else make so I began that blog to help others.  I was diagnosed with Dementia 6 years ago so some of my personal journey has been included in that blog.  More of my personal journey will still be shared on our personal blog.  If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with dementia I hope you will benefit from what I write about that.

Some Things I Learned About Dementia use to be a weekly blog but I can no longer handle that.   It’s become a whenever I can do it blog and comes out on any day of the week. Surprises!!

Our personal blog will now contain all three blogs: personal including our travels, dementia and wacky fun stuff.

Thanks for following this blog and I really hope you will follow our personal one.  Take care and God Bless Ya’ll!  Rosalyn Chauvin

💙When I say ‘I can’t take any more’ God says, ‘find your strength in Me.’
When I say ‘I don’t know how to move forward’ God says ‘let Me lead the way.’
When I say ‘I feel so broken right now’ God says, ‘let Me heal you.’
When I say ‘I am so depressed right now’ God says, ‘let Me bring joy into your heart.’
Let God’s strength, leadership, healing and joy be the light you see💙💙

YOUR TIME HERE IS SHORT, By Ann Voskamp

Image may contain: text…it’s going to be okay: You don’t have to race when you already have a Rescuer. You are never truly time-starved when you are truly God-full.
Realizing how your time here is short —
paradoxically expands how you use your time.
May we be more interested in turning our time into prayer than our time into money.
May we be more interested in pressing into God than impressing others.
May we be more interested in communion with Christ than climbing success ladders in the world.
Because God never comes in ways to impress us — as much as He comes to make ways for us to have intimacy with Him.
And — it’s kinda crazy beautiful how it works:
When you want to be loved —
go be love.

Roy and I love to sing along with songs while we are driving.  Rarely do we know the exact words and most of the fun is coming up with whatever we can to sing it!  This couple singing just hit me as soo cute.  I even like the lady’s part that says “Hot Damn”!!  When my brain really fades this is a song I’m sure will put a smile on my face.  Has to be these two folks okay??

COURAGE, by Dr. Ray Pritchard

Keep me safe, my God, for in you I take refuge. I say to the LORD, “You are my Lord; apart from you I have no good thing.” – Psalm 16:1-2

There are many days where I feel an overwhelming sense of discouragement, exhaustion, or frustration.

It might be little things that bring about these feelings in me, or it might be major life events that have left me weary and hurting, but either way, I know I don’t have the strength on my own to make it through.

It’s days like those where I find prayers like this comforting. When we feel those feelings creeping in, may we instead choose to kneel before our Father in heaven and ask him for the strength and courage we need to carry on.

12.24.17 Wacky Wonderful Christmas Eve! Happy Birthday Jesus!

WORTHY OF OUR WORSHIP

“When they saw the star, they were filled with joy! They entered the house and saw the child with his mother, Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasure chests and gave him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.” —Matthew 2:10–11

The wise men, these followers of the stars, met the Lord Jesus Christ who created the stars. They were occultists, yet God reached into their dark world with a star to bring them to their Creator.

Matthew’s gospel tells us, “They entered the house and saw the child with his mother, Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasure chests and gave him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh” (2:11).

Everyone worships at Christmas. There are no exceptions to this. Christians worship. Atheists worship. Skeptics worship. Republicans worship. Democrats worship. Independents worship. Everyone worships at Christmas, but not everyone worships God at Christmas. Some worship material things, which they never seem to have enough of. Others worship their bodies. Others worship their families. But everyone worships something or someone.

The wise men worshiped Jesus. And what does it mean to worship? Our modern word worship comes from the old English word worthship. We worship the One who is worthy. A god of our own making isn’t worthy of our worship, but the true God is worthy of our praise.

Two words often are used in the Scriptures to define worship. One word means to bow down and do homage, which speaks of reverence and respect. The other means to kiss toward, which speaks of intimacy and friendship. So when we put these two words together, we get an idea of what worship actually is. To worship is to bow down and have reverence, and it is also to have tender intimacy.

Jesus was born, He died, and He rose from the dead so that you and I could come into a relationship with Him and become God’s adopted children. Simply put, we should worship the Lord because He deserves it—every day of the year.

WHAT CHRISTMAS IS ABOUT

Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end, upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, to order it and establish it with judgment and justice from that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this. —Isaiah 9:7

As we look at our world today, we realize that part of the promise of Isaiah 9:6-7 has not yet been fulfilled. The Son has been given. The Child has been born. But He has not yet taken the government upon His shoulders. We do not yet have peace with judgment and justice. But the good news is that there will come a day when Christ will return. He will establish His kingdom on this earth. And it will be the righteous rule of God himself.

Before Jesus could take the government upon His shoulder, He had to take the cross upon His shoulder. Before He could wear the crown of glory as King of Kings, He had to wear the shameful crown of thorns and give His life as a sacrifice for the sins of the world. The first time, a star marked His arrival. But the next time He comes, the heavens will roll back like a scroll, all of the stars will fall from the sky, and He himself will light it.

Christ came to this earth. God came near to you so you can come near to Him—to give your life purpose and meaning, to forgive you of your sins, and to give you the hope of Heaven beyond the grave. Christmas is not about tinsel or shopping or presents. Christmas is not about the gifts under the tree. Rather, Christmas is about the gift that was given on the tree when Christ died there for our sins and gave us the gift of eternal life.

Image result for My dear precious Jesus, I did not mean to take your place,SANTA’S PRAYER

My dear precious Jesus, I did not mean to take your place,
I only bring toys and things and you bring love and grace.
People give me lists of wishes and hope that they came true;
But you hear prayers of the heart and promise your will to do.
Children try to be good and not to cry when I am coming to town;
But you love them unconditionally and that love will abound.
I leave only a bag of toys and temporary joy for a season;
But you leave a heart of love, full of purpose and reasons.
I have a lot of believers and what one might call fame;
But I never healed the blind or tried to help the lame.
I have rosy cheeks and a voice full of laughter;
But no nail—scarred hands or a promise of the hereafter.
You may find several of me in town or at a mall;
But there is only one omnipotent you, to answer a sinner’s call.
And so, my dear precious Jesus, I kneel here to pray;
To worship and adore you on this, your holy birthday

I heard a story about a train traveling through the night in a very violent rainstorm.
The lightning flashes were almost blinding, the rain hitting the windows was deafening and the strong gust winds rocked the train from side to side.
When the lightening flashed and lighted up the darkness, the passengers could see the rising water along the tracks.
This created terror in the minds of the passengers.
Several passengers noted that through all the noise, lightening and wind, one of the passengers, a little girl, seemed to be at perfect peace.
The adult passengers couldn’t figure out why the little girl was so calm during all this excitement.
Finally, one passenger asked her, “How is that you can be so calm when all the rest of us are so worried about what might or could happen?”
The little passenger smiled and said, “My father is the engineer.”
End of story.
That’s the beauty of knowing that our God is in control everything. Like the little girl in our story, she’s at peace and calm despite people around her are panicking because her father is in control. Trouble is,…the world is full of sins that feeds our mind unconsciously or subconsciously. That’s why we should be more active and aggressive in meditating God’s Word whenever and wherever.
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10

WHY IS JESUS BETTER THAN SANTA CLAUS??

Santa lives at the North Pole…
JESUS is everywhere.

Santa rides in a sleigh…
JESUS rides on the wind and walks on the water.

Santa comes but once a year…
JESUS is an ever present help.

Santa fills your stockings with goodies…
JESUS supplies all your needs.

Santa comes down your chimney uninvited…
JESUS stands at your door and knocks, and then enters your heart when invited.

You have to wait in line to see Santa…
JESUS is as close as the mention of His name.

Santa lets you sit on his lap…
JESUS lets you rest in His arms.

Santa doesn’t know your name, all he can say is “Hi little boy or girl, what’s your name?”…
JESUS knew our name before we were born. Not only does He know our name, He knows our address too. He knows our history and future and He even knows how many hairs are on our heads.

Santa has a belly like a bowl full of jelly…
JESUS has a heart full of love

All Santa can offer is HO HO HO…
JESUS offers health, help and hope.

Santa says “You better not cry”…
JESUS says “Cast all your cares on me for I care for you.”

Santa’s little helpers make toys…
JESUS makes new life, mends wounded hearts, repairs broken homes and builds mansions.

Santa may make you chuckle but…
JESUS gives you joy that is your strength.

While Santa puts gifts under your tree…
JESUS became our gift and died on a tree…the cross.

We need to put Christ back in CHRISTmas, Jesus is still the reason for the season.

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).

If you don’t know the lyrics and want to sing along with these amazing vocalists here they are:

I’d heard there was a secret chord
That David played and it pleased the Lord
But you don’t really care for music, do you?
Well, it goes like this
The fourth, the fifth, the minor fall, the major lift
The baffled king composing Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Well, your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew ya
She tied you to the kitchen chair
She broke your throne and she cut your hair
And from your lips, she drew the Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Well baby, I’ve been here before
I’ve seen this room and I’ve walked this floor
I used to live alone before I knew ya
And I’ve seen your flag on the marble arch
And love is not a victory march
It’s a cold and it’s a broken Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Well, maybe there’s a God above
But all I’ve ever learned from love
Was how to shoot somebody who outdrew ya
And it’s not a cry that you hear at night
It’s not somebody who’s seen the light
It’s a cold and it’s a broken Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

COPS ARRIVE AT WRONG HOUSE, SHOCKED BY CHRISTMAS TREE, By Sean Kelly

a christmas tree

Two Ohio police officers arrived at the wrong home while on the job and were shocked when they saw what was on the homeowner’s Christmas tree.

Ohio Going Blue shared the heartwarming story of the two officers’ visit to the home in a Facebook post.

“Partner and I accidentally went to the wrong address today on a run and stumbled across this beautiful tree,” one of the officers told the site. “The owner took the time to write down every Officer killed in the line of duty this year and place it on the tree. Not only did she do all the Humans but she included all the K9s on the small ornaments. She calls it the “Tree of Honor” guess our paths were meant to cross since she just finished it last night.”

Many readers applauded the homeowner for their tribute to fallen officers.

“Such a beautiful tribute it’s unfortunate we live in a world with so much hatred for law enforcement but seeing things like this tree makes be believe that they’re people in this world that do respect law enforcement,” another wrote.

“What a wonderful, heartwarming story; this wonderful woman is representative of the love and thankfulness of many people in this world; we just don’t hear any good news; however, this was one of the kindest acts I have heard about- May God Bless her,” one reader commented on Mad World News’ Facebook page.

“I don’t believe you went there accidentally, you were led there by our loving God that wanted you to see how there are still a lot of us that are fully behind you. We appreciate that you face danger every day to protect us. May God bless you all and keep you safe. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all, K9s also,” another wrote.
“It’s a good thing they went to the wrong house that day or this wonderful tree that this lady made would have never beed known about. What a sweet lady,” another added.

11.30.17 Wacky Wonderful Thursday

Our teacher asked what my favorite animal was, and I said, “Fried chicken.”

She said I wasn’t funny, but she couldn’t have been right, because everyone else laughed. My parents told me to always tell the truth. I did. Fried chicken is my favorite animal. I told my dad what happened, and he said my teacher was probably a member of PETA. He said they love animals very much. I do, too. Especially chicken, pork and beef.

Anyway, my teacher sent me to the principal’s office. I told him what happened, and he laughed, too. Then he told me not to do it again.

The next day in class, my teacher asked me what my favorite live animal was. I told her it was chicken. She asked me why, so I told her it was because you could make them into fried chicken. She sent me back to the principal’s office. He laughed, and told me not to do it again.

I don’t understand. My parents taught me to be honest, but my teacher doesn’t like it when I am. Today, my teacher asked me to tell her what famous person I admired most.

I told her, “Colonel Sanders.”

Guess where I am now …

Image may contain: one or more people, people standing and textWhat is praise? It is adoration, thanksgiving, appreciation, and worship of our Lord and Savior. Praise flows from a relationship of love and devotion from us to the Lord. Praise brings us closer to Him.

It changes us and helps us grow in our faith. Praise reminds us of who God is. A life filled with praise places us in a position to receive God’s blessings.

C.S. Lewis said, “Only in acts of worship and praise can a person learn to believe in the goodness and the greatness of God. God wants us to praise Him not because He needs or craves in any sense our flattery, but because He knows that praise creates joy and thankfulness.”

Praise is not something that we do for God. Nor is it something that we do in order to get God’s approval so that He will grant our desires. When we praise God, we are changed — even if our circumstances are not. While God is present everywhere, all the time, He is present in a special way when His people praise Him.

Words are the expressions of our hearts. The Bible says, “Out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks” (Matthew 12:34).
What happens to the person who continually complains about the problems and challenges of life? If he only focuses on those things, he will lose sight of his eternal destiny. He may become pessimistic, even depressed.

We all have tiring days, minor setbacks, and unexpected expenses. As believers, we can choose to find strength by praising God rather than sinking into despair.

Regardless of our problems or difficulties, when we praise God, our focus shifts. We become aware, once again, of who He is and His love for us. Why wait? Praise God now and experience His power, which is capable of handling anything you might face.
