EXERCISE FOR PEOPLE OVER 60

Begin by standing on a comfortable surface, where you have plenty of room at each side.

With a 5 lb potato bag in each hand, extend your arms straight out from your side and hold them there as long as you can. Try to reach a full minute, and then, relax.

Each day you’ll find that you can hold this position for just a bit longer.

After a couple of weeks, move up to 10 lb. bags. Then try 50 lb potato bags and eventually try to get to where you can lift a 100 lb. bag in each hand and hold your hands straight for more than a full minute. (I’m at this level)

If you feel confident at that level, put a potato in each bag!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In our daily circumstances, we can lose keeping our focus on Jesus so easily. Sometimes we get so caught up with magnifying our problems and disappointments instead of magnifying our blessings. When trials, disappointments, anger, hostility surround you, magnify the Lord and His goodness, His mercies, and His unconditional love He has for you. Lift your concerns, your disappointments, your circumstances up to the Lord in prayer. The Lord is always near; always and forever.

NOTHING IS TOO HARD FOR THE LORD, By Daily Disciples

“The apostles said to the Lord, ‘Increase our faith!’ And the Lord said, ‘If you had faith like a mustard seed, you would say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and be planted in the sea’; and it would obey you.” – Luke 17:5-6

Abraham was 100 years old and Sarah was 90 years old when Isaac was born. Both Abraham and Sarah were well past child bearing age. Most likely, they could not imagine having a baby at such an old age, but God had a different plan. The Lord knew the exact time in which Sarah would have Isaac and it would clearly be a miraculous blessing to her life. Throughout the years, as the Lord kept telling Abraham of this promise, Abraham kept believing and waiting on the promise to be fulfilled. Twenty-four years after God first promised an heir to Abraham, three men showed up at Abraham’s door. The Lord was one of the three and He again restated His promise that they will bring forth a son, a baby boy. Sarah reacted by laughing. The Lord responded with a question: “Is anything too hard for the Lord?”

Abraham was a man of faith. God said it and Abraham believed what God said. Simple, pure, powerful faith. Sarah believed Abraham and trusted his words but when the Lord showed up, she lacked in her faith to believe. She even laughed at what God said. For us, sometimes it is easier for us to believe a person or to believe in a person than to trust in God. If God gives us a promise we can have a hard time trying to work it out ourselves. The hardest part is waiting on the Lord to fulfill it. We wait, we wonder and sometimes we worry but God is always faithful to keep His promises. Nothing is too hard for the Lord. Nothing. If He says it, then He will do it.

What would you do if you wanted to have a bridal photoshoot but did not have any girlfriends? Invite your bros to have it with you. That’s exactly what 24-year-old Rebeca from Brazil did, and we must say, it was a great idea. “I came up with the idea one week before the wedding. I was looking into some “making of” pictures of brides with their gang of girls, all in robes, laughing, and I got a bit sad because I wouldn’t be able to do anything like that” – Rebeca told Bored Panda.

I can say to myself, “I have a choice to have destructive thoughts or constructive thoughts right now. I can wallow in what’s wrong and make things worse, or I can ask God for a better perspective to help me see good even when I don’t feel good.”

HOW THE SAME DAY LOOKS FROM MOM’S AND KID’S PERSPECTIVES

This amazing video touched me deep in my heart.

Those mundane and exhausting things that moms do with their children might actually be the little things that make their lives magical. Vlogger Esther Anderson of Story of This Life has created a heartwarming video to remind everybody that moms, battling all the struggle and chaos, will always remain the best people in our lives.

Anderson made the video A Normal Day in honor of Mother’s Day. It features grocery shopping, failed naps, messy diaper changes, and other things moms go through on a normal day. Anderson, however, uses these examples to portray parents not as failures, but as devoted and loving magicians who, despite all odds, make their children’s time spectacular. The eye-opening effect was created by showing the same day through the mother’s and her child’s eyes. Sometimes, perception isn’t necessarily reality.

MELANIA TRUMP JUST MELTED HEARTS BY DOING THIS AT VATICAN HOSPITAL!

First Lady Melania Trump visited the Vatican’s children’s hospital, meeting with patients, painting pictures with them and taking selfies.

Melania spent time visiting with a group of young patients at the Bambino Gesu (Baby Jesus) pediatric hospital after she and President Donald Trump met with Pope Francis earlier at the Vatican.

The 47-year-old also toured the hospital’s cardiac intensive unit, as well as the recreation room, where she painted with children from nine different countries, pausing to snap a series of selfies with them.

She ended the visit by praying in the hospital chapel, while also pausing in front of a Madonna statue located outside of the hospital for a quiet moment of reflection.

Having appeared relatively somber and straight-faced during her meeting with Pope Francis earlier in the day, Melania looked much more relaxed and happy as she sat down with the group of children at the hospital, some of whom presented her with artwork that they had made especially for her visit.

One piece, which the First Lady happily held up for the cameras with a smile read: ‘Welcome in Italia! Hy Milania! I want talk for you!’

The multicolored creation also featured several hearts drawn in blue and pink.

Melania looked totally at ease while sitting down and chatting with the young patients, at one point pausing to snap some selfies with them, and also offering one young child a kiss on the cheek and a hug.

She also beamed with joy as she was presented with a bouquet of flowers by hospital staff, looking delighted with the token of appreciation offered to her during her visit.

Before leaving, Melania penned a brief note in the guest book, writing: ‘Great visiting you. Stay strong and positive. Much love, Melania Trump.’

With a red pen, she also drew a small flower and heart.

Church music still sounds like this at our church, Trinity Baptist Church. I am so thankful for that!

“God smiles when we praise and thank Him continually. Few things feel better than receiving heartfelt praise and appreciation from someone else. God loves it, too… An amazing thing happens when we offer praise and thanksgiving to God. When we give God enjoyment, our own hearts are filled with joy.” – Rick Warren

It is not easy to give thanks in every circumstance. But when we choose to thank God in the midst of difficulty, it defeats the forces of darkness in the spiritual realm. When we thank God for every gift He has given us even when things are hard, the enemy loses the battle against us. He is stopped in his tracks when we come to God with a thankful heart.

Learn to be thankful for every blessing from God in your life. It is of great significance to Him if in the midst of great trials, we can be thankful. There is a way of looking at life from the standpoint of eternity. The reality of eternal life and eternal glory that far exceeds this life is a priceless treasure. Our afflictions are working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.

GOD WORKS FOR OUR GOOD, By Lori Hatcher

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:28)

This Scripture brings comfort, direction, and hope to Christians every day. Sadly, it’s also one of the most misquoted and misunderstood verses in the Bible.

I’d like to share three things about this popular verse you may never have noticed.

First, Romans 8:28 doesn’t mean we can live any way we choose, and God will fix our messes.

To understand the truth of Romans 8:28, we can’t just quote the part of the verse we like: “And we know that in all things God works for the good…” and skip the rest, “of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

This verse says to those who love God and are doing their best to obey his commands, “Even though bad/sad/evil/wicked things will touch your life, I (God) will use them to ultimately bring about good, both in your life and in the world.

Second, Romans 8:28 tells us God can use all things together for good. He doesn’t say all things are good.

No matter how rose-colored our glasses are, there’s nothing good about cancer, sex trafficking, or death. Until Jesus returns and conquers Satan once and for all, sin will continue to drag its poisonous tentacles across our world, damaging and destroying everything in its wake.

The truth of Romans 8:28 reminds us that although sin and Satan are powerful, God is more powerful; He is able to redeem and restore anything for our good and his glory. All things may not be good, but God can and will use all things for good.

The final thing you may never have noticed about Romans 8:28 and its accompanying verse, Romans 8:29 is the ultimate good God wants to accomplish in the lives of his children:

“For those God foreknew, he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers”

A wise Bib

le teacher once told me, “God allows everything into our lives for one of two purposes—either to bring us into a relationship with himself or, if we already know him, to make us more like his Son.”

As long as we live in this world, people will attempt to reconcile God’s sovereignty with humanity’s suffering. Verses like Romans 8:28 assure us that no suffering is wasted, and God is always at work for our good and his glory. When we cannot comprehend why trials come and struggle to imagine that anything good can come from them, we can rest in the security that God is in control.

Rosalyn’s Note: This verse are always a comfort to me. It is a very misunderstood verse so when I read this description I wanted to share.

These two remarkable country singers are so lovely and compliment each other very well. See them sing this lovely song together and let it fill you with love! The words are below the video.

If I should stay

I would only be in your way

So I’ll go, but I know

I’ll think of you each step of the way

And I will always love you

I will always love you

Bitter-sweet memories

That’s all I am taking with me

Good-bye, please don’t cry

We both know that I’m not

What you need

I will always love you

I will always love you

I hope life, treats you kind

And I hope that you have all

That you ever dreamed of

And I wish you joy

And happiness

But above all of this

I wish you love

And I will always love you

I will always love you

I will always love you

GUY BUILDS GIANTS FROM WOOD AND HIDES THEM IN THE WILDERNESS FOR PEOPLE TO FIND

Danish artist Thomas Dambo creates larger than life sculptures hidden around his hometown of Copenhagen. His sculptures require secret poems and clues in order to locate them. He says each has its own treasure map or poem engraved into stone to steer people onto unfamiliar paths where they’ll discover them. Each is made of recycled wood consisting of roughly 600 pieces taken from pallets, fences, and even an old wooden shed. With the help of local volunteers, Dambo was able to complete his series of giant wooden sculptures.

Below are a few of these sculptures.

Each sculpture has a poem that gives hints to find the next one.

HILLTOP TRINE LITTLE TILDE TEDDY FRIENDLY This video shows it better than the photos:

WOMAN TAKES HER PET DUCK TO THE VET AND GETS SOME TERRIBLE NEWS

A woman brought a very limp duck to a veterinary surgeon. As she laid her pet on the table, the vet pulled out his stethoscope and listened to the bird’s chest.

After a moment or two, the vet shook his head and sadly said, “I’m sorry, Ma’am, but your duck, Cuddles, has passed away.”

The distressed woman wailed, “Are you sure?”

“Yes, I am sure. Your duck is dead,” replied the vet.

“How can you be so sure?” she protested. “I mean, you haven’t done any testing on him or anything. He might just be in a coma or something.”

The vet rolled his eyes, turned around and left the room. He returned a few minutes later with a black Labrador retriever. As the duck’s owner looked on in amazement, the dog stood on his hind legs, put his front paws on the examination table and sniffed the duck from top to bottom.

He then looked up at the vet with sad eyes and shook his head. The vet patted the dog on the head and took it out of the room.

A few minutes later he returned with a cat. The cat jumped on the table and also delicately sniffed the bird from head to foot. The cat sat back on its haunches, shook its head, meowed softly and strolled out of the room. The vet looked at the woman and said, “I’m sorry, but as I said, this is most definitely, 100 percent certifiably, a dead duck.”

The vet turned to his computer terminal, hit a few keys and produced a bill, which he handed to the woman.

The duck’s owner, still in shock, took the bill. “$550!” she cried, “$550 just to tell me my duck is dead?!”

The vet shrugged, “I’m sorry. If you had just taken my word for it, the bill would have been $50, but with the Lab Report and the Cat Scan, it’s now $550.”

PURE GENIUS!!! By Raquel Medrano Clemente

One of the richest and most powerful men in Brazil, Thane Chiquinho Scarpa, made waves when he announced plans to bury his million-dollar Bentley, so he could drive around his afterlife in style. He received lots of media attention, mostly negative and was severely criticized for the extravagant gesture and wasting of a precious commodity. Why wouldn’t he donate the car to charity? How out of touch with reality is this guy? He still went ahead with the ceremony.

But, there’s a twist.

Moments before lowering the car in the ground prepared for the burial of his Bentley, he declared that he wouldn’t bury his car and then revealed his genuine motive for the drama: Just to create awareness for organ donation.

“People condemn me because I wanted to bury a million dollar Bentley, in fact most people bury something a lot more valuable than my car,” Scarpa said during a speech at the ceremony. “They bury hearts, livers, lungs, eyes, kidneys. This is absurd. So many people waiting for a transplant and you bury your healthy organs that could save so many lives!”

Worth a thought !!

04.26.17 Wacky Wonderful Wednesdays

It sometimes happens that a child’s favorite activity turns out to be getting on your nerves more than you believed possible. This might happen when you go for a walk or go to the supermarket. But how can you keep your calm in those situations when your child starts to misbehave and can’t be controlled?

Bright Side has found the answer to this question in the story of one grandfather who knew the secret to dealing with very capricious children.

A woman in a grocery store came upon a grandfather and his poorly behaved three-year-old grandson.

It was obvious to her that he had his hands full, with the child screaming for candy in the candy aisle, cookies in the cookie aisle, and the same for fruit, cereal, and soda in their respective aisles.

Meanwhile, as the old man was working his way around, he kept saying in a controlled voice, “Easy, Albert, we won’t be long. Easy, boy.“ Then came another outburst, and the woman heard him say calmly, ”It’s okay, Albert. Just a couple more minutes and we’ll be out of here. Hang in there, boy.“

At the checkout, the little terror started throwing items out of the cart, and grandpa said, again in a controlled voice, “Albert, Albert, relax buddy. Don’t get upset. We’ll be home in five minutes. Stay cool, Albert.”

Very impressed, the woman went outside, where the man was loading his groceries and the boy into the car. ”You know, sir, it’s none of my business, but you were amazing in there. I don’t know how you did it. That whole time, you kept your composure, and no matter how loud and disruptive he got, you just calmly kept saying that things would be okay. Albert is very lucky to have you as his grandpa.“

”Thanks, lady,” said the old man, “but I’m Albert. The little terror’s name is Steve.” By Bright Side

These amusing animals want to convey a very important truth to us — that we all need to stay together, and remain true to ourselves at the same time. They’re so dissimilar — speaking, as they do, completely different languages — and yet they’re wise enough to live in an ideal state of mutual understanding. Maybe people will manage this one day as well?
